MAX "BATTLEGROUND", 6/29/06 (PPV)
Tonight's card started off with a battle of tag team partners as Memory Unit BT collided! What started out as a comedic match quickly became serious and Unit B was able to get the win in the end and recieved the gold suit. The partners then shook hands and celebrated in the ring.
Devil Mitsu was able to get another win after his huge losing streak in the Crash Carnival. He still has plenty of critics though as most fans believe he should have been able to put away Masa Genjin in a shorter amount of time.
Next up was two hard fought tag matches were are expected to lead to a number one contender's match. Meng Lee is quickly showing off the pro-wrestling arsenal added to his martial arts skills and was able to make Tony Royal submit with a surfboard.
N-GEN put up a tough challenge for RAVE. The match featured many nearfalls and it was believed that RAVE might not have been able to continue after a hurracanrana to the floor, but he was able to get in the ring before the twenty count.
Terry Butcher has been on a roll as of late, but today saw him against Demon Machine Kong and not Hannibal Kong. Kong was more vicious than ever and shocked the fans by beating the tough Texan. Kong attacked Butcher after the match, but quickly stopped when the referee threatened to disqualify him.
Perhaps the biggest news of the night was what happened during and after the match for the MAX World Tag Team Titles. Beast was unable to get a tag for over ten minutes with the Chase brothers cutting off the ring and making plenty of tags. When the tag was finally made, Snake was able to control both brothers until a double team attack, but the advantage both in their favor. Beast didn't look too eager to make a tag and Snake was eventually defeated. Demon Machine Kong entered the ring after the match and offered Beast a machine mask. He accepted and the two men left the ring. To the shock of the fans and the MAX staff, Beast has joined the Demon Army.
The next match featured the debut of Osamu Nishimura who ended up being the one night member of XJPW. Nishimura looked very impressive, but was defeated by a Kensuke Sasaki lariat to end the match.
The main event steel cage match was controlled by Kazuma Hamada who rammed Tiger Demon into the ring and used one hold after another trying to submit or pin him to become the new MAX World Jr. Heavyweight champion. The match ended on a sour note though as typical with his new ways, Tiger low blowed Hamada and rolled him up in a small package to get the pinfall. Officals were not happy to say the least and there's talk of an outside force challenging for the title.
