Date and first matches announced

With a new year comes a new look!

Pro-Wrestling MAX held a press conference today announcing the date of the anniversary show as well as three big matches. The show will take place on the same day as the very first card (October 5th) and is set to be a huge interpromotional event. The single cage single weapon War Games match has a big stipulation. The losing team must disband!! Demon Army leader Tiger Demon has to defend his title, so he will not be involved in the match.

MAX, "1ST ANNIVERSARY" 10/05/06 (PPV + TV)

1. Non-Title Match: Manabu Nakanishi & Takao Omori vs Steven Simpson & Tony Royal.
2. MAX World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Tiger Demon (c) vs RAVE

MAX "WARRIOR WORLD", 8/18/06 (PPV)

The last card before the huge anniversary show was a big one in it's own right.

Xero redebuted against his former tag team partner Unit T in the opener. Unit T put the comedy aside and gave Xero a run for his money but was surprised with a backslide in the end. Unfortunately, Unit T did not accept Xero's handshake after the match.

The former Masa Genjin also returned as Genesis. He fought UK Machine in a very technical match that saw many nearfalls and Genesis was bloodied at one point. Machine made Genesis submit in the end, but the fans were impressed.

In an openweight contest, Steven Simpson beat Kazuma Hamada with an Axe Guillotine Driver (formerly the 150). There has been some talk of Hamada stepping into the heavyweight division.

Terry Butcher continued to look impressive as he beat former MAX World Heavyweight Champion, Hiromichi Takada. Takada shocked everyone by kicking out of a decapitation lariat, but was put down for good not long after.

Rookies Masato Yamashita and XJPW member Taiki Fujiwara both got huge wins on July 19th by beating Dan Eaton and Terry Butcher. Tonight, they fought each other. Yamashita came out victorious in the end and it's rumored that he soon could be in line for a title shot.

Super Warrior Snake couldn't get his hands on his former partner Beast, so he wanted to take his aggression out on Beast's new partner, Demon Machine Kong. Kong however ruined Snake's plans as he used many dirty tactics throughout the match and was able to bust Snake open. Snake was defeated, but one has to thik that he isn't finished with the members of the Demon Army.

Two new juniors, Demon Blood and Guerrero del Leon debuted in a big Demon Army vs TOKYO DARK eight man tag. Leon in particular looked very impressive. One highlight of the match was Leon dropkicking N-GEN off T-800's shoulders. The match spilled onto the outside and when it returned to the ring, Beast was able to pin Devil Mitsu. The press is calling this a 'Match of the Year' candidate.

The first Universo Cup is in the books. RAVE was able to make fellow STRiKERS member Terry Jaa submit in a very good match. RAVE is now garanteed to be the next challenger for Tiger Demon's World Junior Heavyweight Title.

Mr. X is Koji! Satoshi Kojima appeared in MAX today to challenge Genichiro Tenryu for the MAX World Heavyweight Title. Tenryu dropped Kojima with a huge 53 Years Old knocking Kojima out and forcing the referee to stop the match. Tenryu has looked absolutely unstoppable and one has to wonder who MAX will put in front of him next.

MAX "UC TOUR - B BLOCK FINALS", 8/6/06

A tough night for all three men. The loser of the first match would have to compete again straight away, but at the same time it also gives them another opportunity to win the block. Terru Jaa surprised Kazuma Hamada with a hurracanrana to win. Hamada had to face MAX World Jr. Heavyweight champion, Tiger Demon for the second card in a row. Hamada put up a hard fight, but Demon beat Hamada again with a tiger suplex hold in a match that was only one minute and thirty six seconds longer than their last encounter. Tiger Demon though also lost to a man who beat him previously, Terry Jaa who won the block in the final match.

Jaa will now go on to face fellow stablemate (and STRiKERs leader) RAVE in the tournament final.
