MAX "FIRST STRIKE 2006", 1/1/05 (PPV)
Genichiro Tenryu successfully defends the MAX World Heavyweight title! Hiromichi Takada was in control for most of the match and tried many times to put Tenryu away with some big moves, but Tenryu held on. Takada slowed down the pace and Tenryu was able to come back with lariats before finally putting Takada away in just over sixteen minutes with a second pinning powerbomb.
Tenryu sent out a challenge to Masato Tanaka after the match. Tanaka was believed to be on his way out of MAX, but Tenryu said that Tanaka worked hard during his stay and should get a title shot. MAX officals are talking with ZERO-ONE MAX about possibly booking Tanaka again.
Hiromichi Takada plans to go after the MAX World Tag Team titles before he challenges for the MAX World Heavyweight title again. Takada said that Tiger Hero has to focus on his junior title so he wants to have Taiki Fujiwara as his partner. Takada said that Fujiwara is basically just out of the dojo, but he believes that Fujiwara is ready.
MAX will hold a press conference tomorrow announcing a new card as well as the addition of three new wrestlers to the roster. Hiromichi Takada also said he has a big announcement regarding XJPW.
